Adoption from China

We are British and are adopting from China here in norway. Does anyone know how long BUFA is taking to give authorisation and then how long adopsjonsforum is taking to translate the documents and send them to China. Also how fast is China moving at the moment. Thanks for any help, I can read Norwegian, but my written is very poor.

I thought one of you had to be a Norwegian citizen to adopt from China while living in Norway...?!

I am married to an Englishman, and we adopted a little girl from China 6 months ago. Youve got so much to look forward to! )

At the moment I think BUFA takes appx 3 months to give you your authoritation to adopt. Translation of your dossier can take anything from 3-6 weeks, and then there is 11 months wait till you get your referral. But these things can always change.

Thank you, we can do it even though we are both british there are just one or two different procedures. Is it possible to speed up the process by have the dossier translated independently?

No you can not have the dossier translated independently. Everything has to go through the correct and formal channels, i.e. the certified adoption organizations. Sorry!
