rosaly Skrevet 7. september 2001 Del Skrevet 7. september 2001 We were living in Norway with our 2 year old daughter, but now we are living in Brazil. Do we lose the right to the barnetrygd? I know we have lost kontantstøtte. But also barnetrygd? I look forward to a reply. Irene Grøneng Skrevet 11. september 2001 Del Skrevet 11. september 2001 Child benefit ("barnetrygd")applies to all children under 18 years who are domiciled in Norway. Children who will reside abroad for more than 12 months are not considered to be domiciled in Norway. If foreign residence will be less than 12 months, payment of child benefit will not, as a rule, be terminated. Nevertheless, payment will be terminated in respect of children who reside abroad for more than six months per year within two or more consecutive years (calculated from the first departure). Exemptions: the supporter is residing abroad while working on behalf of Norwegian public authorities or working for humanitarian/philanthropic organisations abroad or studying at a foreign university or foreign college of education, or other specific reasons which make exemption appropriate.
