rosaly Skrevet 13. november 2000 Del Skrevet 13. november 2000 Dear Doctor, My daughter was born on April 19th, 1999. I have been breastfeeding her since the day she was born and until today! She won't stop wanting milk from my breasts and she cries a lot if I refuse to give them to her. She eats normal food too, but most of the time she is not hungry to eat anything because she's had the breastmilk. Since I haven't had a job until now and I am very available to her, she wants my breasts almost all day long. I don't want to cause her any trauma by dening her my breasts, but I feel it's time to stop. Would you have any suggestions on how I could do it without making her suffer much? Thank you! 0 Siter Lenke til kommentar https://forum.doktoronline.no/topic/9469-breastfeeding-for-too-long/ Del på andre sider Flere delingsvalg…

That's teh problem, She's addicted to my breast. She loves it and I feel sorry to take it away from her at the same time that I need to do it. ... I breastfed my son until recently, he was 17 months old. The last months I reduced the number of feeds He protested of course, but I gave him water instead. After some days he got used to it, and som days later I gave up antoher feed. One day we just stopped altoghether. He still asks for my breast, and if he is tired he cries an tries to pull of my sweather. But I cuddle him and then he stops. I reccomend that you reduce the feeds one by one ( its best for your breasts too), and perhaps keep the afternoonfeed for a while. I breastfed both my children after I started to work, and it was no problem. Good luck to you! Elisabeth Tufte, helsesøster Skrevet 13. november 2000 Del Skrevet 13. november 2000 Dear rosaly. So nice to hear that you have been able to breastfeed for so long. I also understand that you feel the time has come to reduce it or end it. I see that that you have got an answer from one mother that also breastfed for about the same length of time as you have been doing. Her answer may be very useful for you. As you have experienced it is difficult to stop breastfeeding without her protesting. It is not dangerous if she gets angry. Try to wear clothing that exposes your breasts as little as possible. Decide how many times you will accept that she breastfeeds. If she asks for the breasts at other times, try do distract her by playing, singing or to break routines by going for walks or bringing her outside or to meeting places for other parents and children if that exist where you live. In some cases it is impossible to do it the slow way. The mother must stop from one day to the next. You may try to put something with a bad tasting on your nipple like lemon or mustard. If you stop abruptly you need to express milk by hand or by a pump while you are reducing the production. Good luck. 0 Siter Lenke til kommentar https://forum.doktoronline.no/topic/9469-breastfeeding-for-too-long/#findComment-44066 Del på andre sider Flere delingsvalg…
