Noen ganger kommer jeg over sitat som får meg til å tenk. Denne tråden er en plass å dele dem.

Håper flere trør til.

I forbindelse med spørsmålet om gledespiker er en løsning for 40 åringer uten erfaring kom jeg på denne av Terry Pratchett:

‘And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things.  Including yourself.  That’s what sin is.’

Ja, det tror jeg stemmer. Inkludert at skal ha respekt for seg selv. Men dialogen i boken fortsetter: 

‘It’s a lot more complicated than that -’

‘No.  It ain’t.  When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth.  People as things, that’s where it starts.'

Når noen har som hovedbudskap at ting er komplisert og er det ofte fordi de ikke liker det åpenbare svaret. Bare legg merke til det.

Jeg liker dette sitatet fra første Matrix-filmen:

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. Jeg så også Rocky V for et par år siden og denne talen fra Rocky til sin voksne sønn traff meg veldig:

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!

Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!
